When Alexandria and I started talking about doing a Creative Editorial Shoot, I knew it was going to be so much fun. I had just opened my new studio here in Tampa, and I was so excited to start getting artsy and creative in there. We started brainstorming what looks we could curate together and came up with three distinct styled sets to run with.
We were lucky enough to have Alyssa, a former Miss Florida Teen USA, model for this session. I loved the laid-back, but fiery, vibe she somehow managed to capture. She just instinctively knew how to work in front of the camera, which allowed me to play with lighting and new poses.
I think as a Tampa boudoir photographer, it’s always important to schedule these creative editorial shoots, because it allows us to “play” as artists. Explore new poses and different lighting. See what works vs what doesn’t. We can then take all of that back to our clients and keep bringing fresh eyes to their experience in the studio.
Alexandria is the queen of hair and makeup, and she did a phenomenal job doing glam for Alyssa before our session. We got to all hang out together and yap during hair & makeup, jamming to our favorite songs and getting in the zone to create together. Alexandria created the perfect elevated natural look for Alyssa with a smoked-out wing eye and lined lips. It worked perfectly for all three “sets” we did in the studio.
Scroll through and see which set you like the best! My favorite is #1, but it’s almost impossible to choose. She slayed in all three of them.
We started the Creative Editorial Shoot with an off-the-shoulder cropped sweater knit with a mini leather skirt. We wanted the white backdrop but kept it cozy with the bed & sheet vibe.
Next we pivoted to a darker color palette, with a black vest suit situation. We shot with the window lighting set-up, and it created a really cool contrast in the photos.
The last set of the day was a more elevated, fun “going out” vibe. Alyssa wore a feather tube top with a leather mini skirt, this time with lace-up heels. We utilized the feature wall in the studio and used a sleek chair to create an IDGAF vibe.
I loved everything about this Creative Editorial shoot in the studio, and I’ve really enjoyed incorporating some of my new poses and lighting techniques with my clients. More on that soon! Make sure you scroll to see all three looks!
