Get ready to feast your eyes on a gorgeous editorial maternity shoot!! When this client reached out for pregnancy photos, she said she was drawn to the simplicity and timelessness of a studio session. I just so happened to be working on my rebranding video at the time, so I asked her to model for me. She graciously said yes (and you can see that video here!)

I knew we wanted to keep the look really classic. When styling her, I was referring to 90s vibes with the denim-on-demin look. I know, I know the Britney/Justin VMA vibe is what you’re thinking – but I was aiming for the elevated, expecting mama version of that. And man, did she deliver. We used a black bralette under the outfit to add a dark contrast of color against the worn blue, and the white backdrop. It also helped accentuate her bump!

Our mama opted for her hair down and simple makeup to encapsulate that high-end natural look. We went barefoot to keep it stripped back and focused on this woman growing new life.

The denim jacket was a little oversized, so we were able to play with it open & closed, just letting her cute baby bump take center stage in some of the photos. We pulled in a wooden chair for a simple prop, and I posed her both leaning on it, and sitting across it. When I tell you I promise to pose you from head to toe – I mean it! I guided her exactly how to sit, lean and stretch to capture these photos. And she killed it!

We also brought in my camel, distressed leather couch in front of the white backdrop. This added another texture to add to her final gallery. I ended up LOVING the vibe of mama hanging on the couch, waiting for her babe to arrive. She was giving glam. And giving effortless. She was giving editorial maternity shoot. Yes-freaking-please.

We took these photos around 20 weeks, and I’ve found that’s a good time to think about scheduling your maternity photos. Everyone “pops” at different times, so it could be from 20 weeks – all the way through 34 weeks. But you know your bump best, and I would be SO honored to document your maternity era for you in a new, fresh way.
